Appendix 8 includes the following major changes and additions in this edition of the Specification:
- (1) The title of this appendix has been changed to permit inclusion of multiple approximate analysis methods.
- (2) The approximate method for inelastic moment redistribution (often referred to as the nine-tenths rule) was relocated from Chapter B to this appendix.
Appendix 8 contains approximate analysis methods that may be used in certain situations as alternatives to more rigorous methods of analysis. Both are based on employing the results of first-order elastic analysis.
