C-ICommentary — Chapter I Design of composite members

Chapter I includes the following major changes and additions in this edition of the Specification:

• (1) This chapter now includes reinforcing requirements for filled and encased composite members, which had previously been included by reference from ACI 318.

• (2) Provisions for filled composite plate shear walls consisting of two steel plates connected by tie bars have been added.

• (3) By reference to Appendix 2, composite members constructed from materials with strengths above the limits given here have been added.
