Installation – SP™/SMPP™ Nuts (1)

  1. Prepare properly sized mounting hole in sheet. Do not perform any secondary operations such as deburring.
  2. Place fastener into the recommended counterbore anvil hole and place the mounting hole (preferably the punch side) over the shank of the fastener as shown in diagram.
  3. With installation punch and anvil surfaces parallel, apply squeezing force until the head of the nut comes into contact with the sheet material.
RECOMMENDED COUNTERBORE ANVIL Key Entities: Punch: The upper tool that applies force. Anvil: The lower support piece featuring a counterbore. Workpiece/Fastener: The material being processed between the punch and anvil. Key Dimensions: A: Counterbore width/diameter. P: Counterbore depth. R: Internal corner radius at the bottom of the counterbore. R1: External edge radius at the top of the counterbore. Details: The diagram specifies the geometry required for an anvil used in a punching or setting operation, illustrating the relationship between the punch, the component, and the recessed anvil base.
