When a slip-critical connection is subjected to an applied tension that reduces the net clamping force, the available slip resistance per bolt from Section J3.9 shall be multiplied by the factor, ksck_{s c}, determined as follows:

where

Ta=T_{a}= required tension force using ASD load combinations, kips (kN)

Tu=T_{u}= required tension force using LRFD load combinations, kips (kN)

nb=n_{b}= number of bolts carrying the applied tension
